Here is the thing. It seems like most people love telling you, that you need a billion things for when the baby is born.
My life/ fashion motto has always been “more is more”. And trust me, if you see my house and especially my closet, you will know that I really mean it. But when it comes to shopping for babies it’s literally the opposite. Shopping for babies it’s a slippery slope, before you know it – you end up swimming in things you never used.
I truly believe that you need to buy things that make your life EASIER, that’s it. So please don’t listen to anyone telling you any differently. This goes to all the people that told me I needed a Baby Wipe Warmer or an On-the-Go Bottle warmer. The last thing you need is getting your baby used to only drinking warm bottles and using only warm wipes on-the-go, because the reality is that day you WILL forget them, and it WILL be a fiasco. My son has been drinking cold milk since he was born, and I can feed him anytime/ anywhere. *FREEDOM*
Set expectations low, and the success rate will be high.
On that note, without further ado- here is a list of my top 10 must-haves for babies:
Bobbie Formula - hands down the best formula in the US (modeled after the European formula). Bobbie is no corn syrup, no palm oil, no filler, no Maltodextrin, no gluten, no pesticides, and no antibiotics. Trust me you will be shocked to read what’s on most of the formulas here. Besides that, they have a subscription that ships to your house monthly- which in the middle of the formula shortage last year was a dream!
Doona Stroller - strollers were a BIG topic during my baby research. I asked everyone and anyone that would have an opinion on this and did more lifestyle quizzes to determine the right stroller for me than I am willing to admit. The fact is there’s NOTHING quite like the Doona, it’s a car seat + a Stroller all in one. It’s light, comfortable, and fairly priced. Plus it’s ideal for traveling or city living (when you fold it into a car seat it can be strapped to any car just with a seatbelt!).
Coterie Diapers - I am not one to go all organic, healthy granola mom on anyone. But I have to say that these chemical-free/ hypoallergenic diapers are not only the SOFTEST but also super absorbent, yet not bulky. Ps: thanks to them, my 1 year old son has never had a diaper rash. WORTH.EVERY.PENNY
Nanit Camera - This camera links seamlessly to your smartphone, so you can see your baby at all times, wherever you are in the world. Plus, the dashboard showcases video history + sleep patterns, which come in super handy when sleep training (we’ll get to this later).
Tavolinchen Down Sleeping Bag - speaking of sleeping. When my friend Eugenia told me about this fancy sleeping bag and how life-changing it was I thought she was exaggerating. Boy was I wrong. My son sleeps 2 extra hours at night because of it + not only that but when I started using it for nap time he immediately stopped throwing fits and started sleeping full naps. Hallelujah!
The Play Gym by Lovery - A Montessori-inspired mat with lots of options to keep your baby entertained. It also comes with a play guide that helps you figure out age-appropriate activities with your baby, which comes in VERY handy.
Ps: their Play Kit subscription is honestly Godsend. They send you a box every 2 months with age-appropriate educational toys, which makes it a lot easier to avoid buying extra stuff.
Baby Björn - the main reason I was able to get any work done during his first 9 months. This bouncer entertains + soothes your baby- so you can have some much-needed hands-free time for yourself. Also, this flower add-on is kind of adorable.
DockATot - a portable sleeping/play/lounge station for babies, which comes in SO handy in the first months of a newborn.
Stokke Tripp Trapp Chair - Plastic highchairs are simply not kosher in my book. This wooden version is not only nice to look at, but it will also grow with your baby (from 6 months into adulthood). Love a one-and-done purchase!
Artipoppe - honestly it’s the ONLY beautiful baby carrier on the market; it comes in many different prints and fun colors + the quality is amazing (I’ve been wearing mine for a year and it looks brand new).
Well, that’s a wrap!
Besos,
Victoria
Ps: Bonus, the Nestig Wave Crib, made from Brazilian wood, converts from a mini crib, to a full crib, to a toddler bed + it has wheels, which allows you to move around the house ( way more convenient than a Moses for naps! especially when they are little )
Ps: please excuse any errors, I’m ESL 💜
We definitely couldn’t live without these 11 things. I remember how hyped up we were on the milk warmer and we haven’t used it once! 😂
