SUNDAY BITES #47
a conchita awakening, ai hacks & things worth buying
What a week.
Honestly, I was expecting the Year of the Fire Horse to show up with a little more... horse. I keep looking around wondering: where is this horse? was it born? is it leearning how to walk? No, but seriously.
Everything feels upside down. Work. The news. The internet. People. Am I the only one feeling this?
Trying to build something meaningful is hard enough. Trying to build it publicly adds a whole extra layer of weirdness to the experience. Apparently now you’re supposed to document yourself doing the work while also doing the work? Like how? At what time?
Am I building a company or auditioning for a reality show? The lines are sooo blurry.
And then there’s fundraising….
Fundraising is such a specific kind of psychological sport. It has all the energy of dating, except the rejection is somehow more impersonal and the power dynamics are completely naked. Thank god my childhood trauma made me have thick skin.
On a completely different note, I went to the launch of a vagina serum. the first of its kind, apparently, which when you think about it is genuinely insane? we have spent decades and small fortunes on our faces, and nobody thought to do anything for our conchita until now. I started using it and felt a difference after the first try, which I was not expecting to say out loud but here we are…
This week’s guest essay that i think a lot of you needed to read ( I know I did) is about gentle parenting, where it went sideways, and why structure isn't the opposite of softness.
I havent stopped thinking about : Kate Parfet saying “You birth the boys that burn you”. ( let that sink in)
I mentioned in the ZT chat that I was thinking about sharing some of the AI hacks, tools, and random discoveries I’ve been finding along the way, and honestly, I was a little surprised by how many of you were into it.
I’m adding a new section after the shopping edit. I’m still very much figuring this stuff out in real time, but some of these tools have genuinely changed how I work, learn, and organize my very chaotic brain.
outings in LA
bubble planet with the kids : cheesy, yes, they loved it, also yes.
Lasita : sit on the patio, bring coins for the kiddie rides, the staff is great with small humans, which at this point is the only review metric that matters to me. Did I mention there’s also an ice cream place right across the restaurant?
Funhouse Izakaya :stumbled in randomly, the food was great and there’s a little gated patio in front of a church which means the kids can run around and you can actually eat your food, and maybe just maybe finish a sentence?
SHOPPING
SURF’ S UP: I love a pair of High Sport pants. Yes, they’re expensive. Yes, they’re worth it. They somehow feel like sweatpants while making you look like the most put-together person in the room. I’ve had a purple pair for over a year now and despite being climbed on, pulled on, and generally abused by small children, they still look brand new. Anyway, they just launched a surf pant version and I’m interested. Also, Can we discuss how cute the Moda exclusive Mini is?
THE PERFECT SHIRT: I love a button-down shirt. Always have, always will. This new version from The Reset somehow manages to feel feminine, and dare I say sexy? + completely wearable all at once. I feel like the White is a classic, But the Blue might be my favorite?
THE LIP MASK OF ALL LIP MASKS: I don’t say this lightly, but this might be the lip mask. Better than many of the much fancier ones currently living in my bathroom cabinet.
A VERY GOOD WEDDING GUEST DRESS : Wedding season is coming for all of us.This one feels elegant, easy, and romantic without it being cheesy? Also happens to be 40% off
THE MERMAID SANDAL : A very pretty sandal that works just as well during the day as it does at dinner. Plus I love this color for summer.
AN HEIRLOOM IN TRAINING BAG : Melisse bags typically sell out in approximately seven seconds every time she releases a drop. She just launched with Moda and somehow a few styles are still available. I love this one, but I'm also quietly debating whether I need the vintage pink version. Please enable me.
SPORTY SPICE GOES TO CAPRI: Flattering, comfortable, and just sporty enough.
AI cheat codes
for research, use perplexity. think of it as google for ai but it actually answers you and shows its work.
make yourself a podcast. we are all running on no time and LA traffic is not going to fix itself. i drop research links into notebooklm and it turns them into a two-host podcast i can listen to while driving. i have learned more in the car this month than i have sitting at my desk.
wispr flow: i am ESL and nothing has ever worked for dictation until this. I go on long voice note spirals whenever something is in my head, then i paste the whole unhinged transcript into claude and ask it to find the structure. it sounds chaotic because it is, and it's honestly been life-changing.
gamma : describe a deck or a document and it builds it in seconds, waya better than canva
claude projects : if you are not using claude on desktop and building projects, you are leaving a lot on the table. you give it context about who you are and what you’re doing once, and every conversation after that already knows you. it stops the exhausting cycle of re-explaining yourself from scratch every single time.
hot tip: before you start anything, ask AI to interview you first. let it ask you questions about your references, your opinions, what you actually want. your answers become the brief. it changes the quality of everything that comes after.
I would love to learn more about how you guys are using ai ( if you are using it at all), and what do you want to use it for. Also if you have tips, tricks, prompts, tools, or weird little AI discoveries of your own, please do share!
Anyways, im gonna go get some sleep because my kids are waking up in 6 hours…
Besos,
Victoria
