I’ve been in a weird mood lately—somewhere between existential dread and deep appreciation for toe rings. Blame the news cycle. Or maybe the fact that everyone I know is either pregnant, getting divorced or an exotic vacation. Either way, I’ve been thinking a lot about what actually brings joy right now—and it turns out, it’s the little things. Like art books for babies. Like finally finding the dress for that wedding you low-key don’t want to attend. Like toe jewelry (yes, really).
So here’s a little dispatch—part survival guide, part shopping list, part unsolicited opinion column. Because when the world feels too loud, the answer is almost always: edit your cart, paint your toes, and talk to women who are actually telling the truth.
Also, if you haven’t listened to my interview with Katrina , do yourself a favour and tune in now. It’s one of those conversations—important, infuriating, and entirely necessary. The way women are treated in this system… it’s like we’re not even human. And the only way that changes is if we keep talking about it. Keep sharing. Keep showing up for each other. Katrina’s back next Tuesday with more. Stay tuned.
Okay. Switching gears entirely.
Apparently everyone’s pregnant right now? (Congrats, truly.) I’ve been getting a ton of messages asking what to actually buy—so I made you a list. Minimal fluff, no ugly gear, just the good stuff. It’s HERE.
And for the gifters (equally vital role), I pulled together an edit just for you too. Biased warning: I wish they made this dress in my size, I’m obsessed with this swaddle, and obviously the llama had to be included. But the real winner? A series of baby art books—each themed (love, adventure, friendship...) with museum-worthy illustrations. Chic and meaningful. AKA, best. gift. ever.
On another note—I went to a Chan Lulu event this week and they spoiled us with pedicures and (wait for it)... toe rings. Yes, the thing I haven't worn in approximately 20 years. And yet, in the midst of global collapse, a jewel on my toe brought me real joy. So naturally, as any self-respecting Latin woman would do—I layered about five of them. Proof below. Because more is more, always.
What to Wear to a Day Wedding
If you're trying to nail "I understood the assignment and I’m better than your cousin in Reformation", start here:
The perfect green dress: The color. The cut. The shape. It checks every box. Universally flattering and just bold enough to feel like you made an effort (without trying too hard).
The statement dress: You know the one. A little unexpected, definitely not your average RSVP look. Great for a destination wedding or anything outdoorsy. You’ll stand out—for all the right reasons.
The romantic pink: Soft, pretty, and completely versatile. Works just as well for a barefoot garden wedding as it does dressed up with heels and real jewelry. The cost per wear math? Basically free.( ps here is the dress in burgondy too if you feel sexier)
This brand I just found and won’t shut up about: Luxe fabrics, offbeat shapes, and cuts that actually do something for your body. Not loud, just really well designed. I'm into it.
Black to a wedding? Yes. It’s elegant. It’s timeless. It photographs beautifully. And this one has a low back and feather detail, so it’s giving drama without the attention-seeking.
The One Thing You Didn’t Know You Didn’t Need (But Crave Deeply)
If you, like me, lose every single pair of sunglasses (and the cases too), this is the elegant, low-effort solution. Thank me later.
THINGS THAT FEEL LIKE SUMMER
Crochet shorts that make your legs look longer than they actually are. Important.
Striped pants in retina-burning colours.
A paper-thin patchwork scarf to tie around literally anything.
A cotton sundress with bows and pockets (under $150 because miracles exist).
Transparent pants in a scandalously loud colour.
The belt collab from Laoli x Sloan that will make your outfit 72% more interesting with zero effort.
+ These surf shorts, inspired by Blue Crush, which—let’s be honest—once made me contemplate relocating to Hawaii to chase waves and possibly a sun-kissed love affair. Instead, I ended up at a surf camp in Bali twenty years later and quit on day two. But these shorts? These made me feel like I stuck the landing.
++ A sun hat that actually offers UPF 50+ because no one needs premature face creasing. Priorities.
The One Thing You Know You Need (But Haven’t Found The One Yet)
The perfect carry-all tote. This one from Kallmeyer hits all the marks—form, function, main character energy.
3 Beauty Products I cannot live without
MERIT The Minimalist Perfecting Complexion Stick (Bisque): Light enough to feel like skin, thick enough to actually do something. It covers without caking, stays put even in heat, and somehow still looks like you. Basically the foundation equivalent of a good hair day.
Roz Milk Serum: My one-and-done hair routine—especially on non-school days when I have 30 seconds and no shame. Smooths, softens, and lets me pretend I tried.
Splash Salve In-Shower Body Moisture Treatment: Exactly what my dry legs needed this summer. Bonus: it doubles as the perfect shave balm in the shower. (Efficiency = self-care when you're chronically running late.)
Things I’ve Been Reading (That I Think You Should Too)
How to get smart Again- I’ve been feeling a bit… mentally beige lately. This piece gave me actual tools (not just vibes) to get out of the rut. Highly recommend if your brain’s been on airplane mode.
what men dont understand about women -Spoiler: it’s not just “everything.” This one made me laugh, nod, and then send it to three group chats.
Taste is the New Intelligence -Finally, someone said it. A sharp little read on why knowing what’s good—and why—is the real power move.
Anyways ,that’s all for today… have a great weekend.
Besos,
Victoria
If this made you laugh, nod in agreement, or immediately think of someone who needs to read it, go ahead and tap that little heart—it helps more people (including the lurkers) find this.
Oh, and just a heads up: some of these links might earn me a small commission.

The striped pants. THE STRIPED PANTS. And I need to know what it feels like to wear a toe ring again — it’s been too long!!!
