It’s been so strange trying to move on and write a “newsletter” that can be seen as frivolous compared to everything else thats happening in LA. But for my mental health, I am trying to separate things and move on , while still trying to be of service.
If you can HERE is the list verified GOFUNDME’s you can donate to. No amount is too small. Let’s not forget the hardest part is yet to begin.
Things that have kept me sane:
Long walks ( preferably by the beach)
Sleeping with my baby ( I know, it’s not on brand for me, and I will regret it once I have to go back to LA). But the reality is that coming up with him brings me joy- so there is that.
Allowing me to feel my feelings, but putting a time limit on them. It doesn’t help anyone to swim in anxiety and fear. Feel it, acknowledge it - and MOVE ON.
Very Hot showers ( the Airbnb’s we are staying at sadly don’t have bathtubs.. sigh)
Boundaries. I got rid of all but one of my neighbor’s WhatsApp groups, and even then, I muted that one. I turned off notifications for past fires on my WATCHDUTTY app. I am doing social media & news in smaller doses. Boundaries have helped a lot, it does not anyone any good to constantly be seeking dopamine from chaos, as addictive as it can be. We can’t help anyone if we are in a state of chaos and anxiety.
*bonus I rewatched my conversation about Joy with my friend Ajiri and it really helped put me back on track !
Things that I was able to pack in my 1/2 suitcase and have been using nonstop:
Refys Blur liner in Stone. It’s hands down the one makeup product I cannot live without. Lips, cheeks, and even my eyes. It’s Perfect.
The super Hydrator - I literally ran out of it. It’s been so dry and gross, it’s the only thing keeping my skin looking alive.
My blue Row flats. The color just cheers me up, they go with a lot more than what you would think- they are sold out but THESE are the exact same color and equally as cool
I spoke about these pants on Sunday Bites 003, and I stand by them. They are SO comfortable and versatile, and the bow detail makes them cute but sporty , but cool. SO glad I packed these.
Honorable things that I have not worn, but that bring me joy when I look at my suitcase are:
This amazing Simkhai red dress I wore for Christmas, and this adorable mini dress (on super sale)that makes me feel festive. My suede long Old Celine coat, which somehow I just found on Vestiare Collective at a ridiculous price HERE ( have in mind it was over 10k retail)
Retail therapy :
It’s a real thing, it helps. I know it’s shallow but sue me, I need a break. Thank God my husband does not read my substack.
How good are these cow shoes? ( and 50% OFF)
ShopDoen had a popup here in Newport, so I went in and kinda went crazy. I always end up spending money on big items that I cannot wear often, but this time I went practical. I got this red cardi ( I tried on this yellow one too, which was cute but didn’t make the cut). This romatic blouse , which is perfect with jeans, and this skirt ( this spring’s MVP)
This sweater I had to have, and it was on sale. It is SO soft!
Finally getting these boots. They are 50% +15% , so I figured this is the best price they will ever be.
CJR has a sale to benefit the victims of the Altadena fires, so GET ON IT. I am particularly loving THIS dress, THIS polo, and THIS gown - also might get Adam THIS sweater so we can share it.

One more thing, I am having the author of one of my top books of 2024 BOYMOM, Ruth Whippman on Zillion Trillion next week, discussing the Boy Crisis in America, the impact it’s having in society & what we can actually do to raise good men. You really can’t miss it!

What brand/style are the green wide leg pants you’re wearing in a couple of these photos? So cute!
