Here’s the deal: motherhood is many things, but straightforward? Yeah, not exactly. Enter Dr. Gertrude Lyons, who brilliantly dismantles all those outdated, overly sanitized motherhood narratives with her game-changing book, Rewrite the Mother Code. It’s about reclaiming, reframing, and reshaping what motherhood means to each of us personally.
I was first introduced to Gertrude by my brilliant friend Kristen McGuiness, AKA my Tamil wife—our friendship was forged in the fires of grad school and cemented during a particularly chaotic (read: absolutely wild) three-week odyssey through India. Let's just say we barely made it out alive, and the details are best left for another, much more daring day. The point is, when Kristen says jump, I simply ask, "How high?" Naturally, when she pointed me toward Gertrude’s work, I didn’t hesitate for a second.
The moment I cracked open Rewrite the Mother Code, I felt deeply aligned with its powerful, no-BS approach to motherhood—one that embraces the messy, complex, and beautifully imperfect reality of it all.
So, yay! Join us for my first-ever live (we actually managed it this time—miracles do happen!)—a candid, totally casual chat covering everything from redefining motherhood, challenging norms, meditation hacks, and yes, probably a few spicy takes on life's absurdities.
Besos,
Victoria and Gertrude
PS: If you’re in LA, I'll be chatting with Dr. Gertrude tomorrow, June 5th at 6pm at Zibby's—come by and hang IRL with us :) Register Here
