Update: we have raised over 3 million directly to families now. YOU DID THAT. This has restored my faith in humanity. THANK YOU
Sorry for the silence this week. As many of you have probably heard, the fires in LA have caused unimaginable devastation. My family and I are safe—we evacuated and, for now, our home is still standing. But I can’t say the same for thousands of others. Nearly every one of my friends in LA has been displaced, and many have lost everything.
The scale of this disaster feels overwhelming, and the hardest part is knowing it’s far from over. In moments like this, it’s easy to feel helpless. But I keep thinking about how closely we’re all connected. Every person affected is one or two degrees of separation from me—and probably from you too. We’re all woven into this larger community, and now is the time to show up for each other.
I’ve always struggled with donating to massive organizations because it’s hard to see the impact firsthand. So I’m putting together a growing list of people who need immediate help. This is a list based on all the people my community in LA is sharing, no scammers, I took the time and double-checked each profile, and they are legit.
Even small actions can create real change in someone’s life. A friend shared this quote with me today and it stuck: “In moments like this, do for one person what you wish you could do for everyone.”
If your friends or family have been affected by the fires & are crowdfunding, please comment or share their GoFundMe pages with me so I can add them.
Please consider donating or offering support. Together, we can make a difference.
This is intended to be an evolving document.
